Ultimate Cafe goes 'fourth' with new site in Kingston upon Thames

""

Located at 3-5 Thames Street, the venue follows the successful partnership between Ultimate Outdoors, the outdoor clothing and equipment store owned by JD Sports Fashion plc, and North West independent The Interesting Eating Company.

In addition to being transformed into Ultimate Outdoors, the former Blacks site is now home to the in-house coffee shop Ultimate Cafe, which features a rear terrace overlooking the River Thames.

Director of Ultimate Cafe/The Interesting Eating Company Nichola Lee said: “It’s so rewarding that the Ultimate Cafe concept is enjoyed by so many and we are thrilled to continue our expansion across the country. Following the successes of our Preston, Dudley and Nottingham sites, it’s great to open in the bustling area of South West London.

“As an independent, not only does it give us a great sense of pride and achievement to have struck up the long term partnership with the sports fashion and outdoor retailer, it is fantastic to see how far the Ultimate Cafe brand has developed over the past two years. Having established The Interesting Eating Company in Liverpool back in 2012, we have built on our knowledge and understanding of suburban areas that ultimately pioneered the concept of the in-house coffee shop brand. We feel honoured to have filled the gap between local SMEs and retails giants and evolve our original idea.”

Ultimate Cafe mirrors The Interesting Eating Company’s signature branding and quirky offerings, which include signature pancakes and speciality waffles, ‘grab and go’ light bites, cakes and freshly prepared gluten free variations, as well as barista hot beverages. To keep children entertained, the new Ultimate Outdoors venue also features a free large scale two storey state-of-the-art indoor soft play area, which enables youngsters to exercise while having fun.

Director Andrea Edwards added: “Having gained the respect of a large national retailer, it’s fantastic to have established a brand that mirrors the underlying ethos and originality of The Interesting Eating Company, while at the same time putting a contemporary and novel twist on in-house coffee shops. We are thrilled to have created job opportunities for local residents, as already we have provided 40 jobs across all four sites.

“We hope that the development of the Ultimate Cafe brand will further our loyal customer base. As the site was once home to a popular restaurant, it would be great to see the return of former diners and welcome them to our new cafe. Visitors will once again be able to while away the day enjoying food and drink, whist overlooking the beautiful backdrop of the River Thames.”
